I have a Lutron switch and I recent retrofitted low wattage LED can lights. I knew there was a chance the older Lutron switch would feed too much voltage and the light may stay on when the switch is off. Which they did.So I bought a brand new Lutron switch that was LED compatible and in the wattage range of my new LED can lights.

Everything was working fine, then I changed the schedule for my porch lights, controlled by Lutron Caseta wireless. The first bulb above the front door, a 5-watt LED, now does not go out when it is supposed to (it's full on, not ghosting) but the second bulb down the line (CFL), lighting the steps, does go out as scheduled. 12-31-2023, 05:36 PM I called Lutron support and they said the switch stopped working because of compatibility issues. If that was the problem, why did it work flawlessly for 10 years? Is there another countdown timer that would work with our setup? Thanks. Depending on how much you use the exhaust fan, 10 years is a reasonable time for failure.

Final Thoughts

I tried putting in a Lutron Diva dimmer (this one), and the string of lights works perfectly. It'll turn off and on, and you can dim them to any desired level. Why might the Diva work when the Caseta doesn't? And is there anything I can do to make a Caseta dimmer work there? Thanks, Ryan 10-12-2022, 09:33 AM Garrett S.
