Hello all Just wanted to ask the forum for their opinions in regards to a mid 80's black face Millermatic 35. Is this a worth while welder or has it run it's course in terms of what's available today? Usually you still see these come up for sale and some are still asking as high as 900.00 to... I'm a hobby welder, so it's not like my livelihood depends on it and that probably makes it even a tougher call. A while back I picked up a Millermatic 251 that's almost like new. I bought it from the original owner who purchased it... I have a project welding 1/4" Aluminum plate to each end of 3" x 2 1/2" Aluminum I beam all 6061. I have heard of people changing out the liner to plastic, changing the standard rollers to U shaped ones, going to a tip .010 larger than the wire and using 5356 wire.
