Hi all, Recently picked up a Stihl 064. Fairly tidy, but the top end is done. Definitely needs a piston and quite possibly a cylinder too.

Understanding the Context

I'm thinking to put an 066 top end on it. When did the 064 go out of production as mine must be a very late one. I thought the 0xx series were discontinued... From STIHL.

MS 300 MS 461/462 & 500 (attached) Ah fu (k, I read the chart wrong, in Freedom Units it's: MS 300 C-M: 4.5 HP, 10.6 lbs MS 462 C-M: 6.0 HP, 13.2 lbs and up MS 500i: 6.7 HP, 13.9 lbs and up The lightbulb units got me again. I was wondering how that little creamsickle made so much power. I go back and read the page in German and the units don't make sense, it says 3kW, and that's ... New Stihl ms 300 | Page 5 | Outdoor Power Equipment Forum I saw a couple of you tube videos (from different people) who had bad comments about the Stihl HP Ultra 2 cycle oil. One of them concerned an insufficient amount of oil film in the crankcase.

Final Thoughts

(That person fixes chainsaws). I have had a Stihl chainsaw go bad on me that had minimal hours on it... Just how different an animal is the 440 Magnum, from the 10mm 044? I'll do my best to document another project! Clearly there's some interchange. I already know the bore is 2mm larger @ 52mm.
